I can hear them upstairs
the floorboards creak
the muffled sounds of another zoom meeting
facetime
whatever.
the fridge
droning
as I walk past
it’s only been 2 ½ weeks
the houses are full
and the streets are
so
so
empty
yellow caution tape is wrapped around the swings
and the climbers
the squirrels didn’t get the memo
only my dog eagerly pulls to greet people
her tail wagging
she barks when I hold her back
I remind myself that as everyone moves away they are not doing this because they don’t like me
but it still kinda hurts
sometimes I smile across the street
the isolation and distance are
I can’t find the word exactly
we all talk about it
it’s all we talk about
the news is endless
unprecedented
uncertain
unloosed
